I hold a PhD in Tourism and Hospitality from the University of Johannesburg of South Africa. I also hold a Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) Diploma awarded by SUNx Malta in conjunction with the Institute of Tourism Studies of Malta. As an early career researcher my research interests are in tourism and climate change, sustainable tourism, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Community-based Tourism among others. I have over five years of working experience in the hospitality industry in Zimbabwe and ten years of lecturing experience at a tertiary level.

With over 25 years of experience in the Hospitality industry, I have consistently pursued professional growth while cultivating a strong passion for Responsible Tourism. This passion led me to co-found the responsible tourism division at a Destination Management Agency in Johannesburg. My career spans roles in East Africa’s Aviation Sector and South Africa’s MICE Industry, and I currently serve as an Associate at a travel agency, where I continue to promote sustainable travel. In 2024, I deepened my commitment to Climate Action by enrolling in the two-year Climate Friendly Travel Diploma with Sunx Malta. I will serve as a chapter leader for South Africa, focusing on advancing sustainable tourism practices. I aspire to collaborate with industry stakeholders to develop sustainable strategies that reduce environmental impact and empower local communities. My goal is to help transform Tourism into a more responsible and climate conscious Sector.
