Meet the Chapter Leader
I have a strong educational background in Tourism; having graduated in Tourism Information at Eduardo Mondlane University and worked on a number of Community based initiatives and as a Tour Guide. I am passionate about community development and volunteer work, particularly within the Tourism sector. I am currently pursuing a Post-graduate Diploma in Climate Friendly Travel through SUNx Malta in collaboration with ITS Malta.
Lino Cassimo is a Mozambican entrepreneur and business executive with over 15 years of experience in agriculture, tourism, IT, mining and IT sectors in Southern Africa. He boasts B.A. Economics and Business Administration degrees from US universities, where he lived for almost a decade, spent most summers working as a tour guide in the Washington D.C. area, and experienced the power of building connections through tourism interactions. In 2023, he was one of the key contributors for the Tourism and Travel Conference held in Kisumu (Kenya), during FESTAC AFRICA Festival 2023. Since then, he has become an advisor for the Minister of Tourism in the State of African Diaspora (SOAD). In 2024, he founded Kiota Mozambique to build a platform that enables digital transformation, supports tourism industry growth and promotes sustainable tourism in Mozambique and the Southern Africa region. In 2025, he was awarded a scholarship to participated in Climate Friendly Travel Diploma program due to his commitment to establishing a robust CFT Chapter in Mozambique.
Gladys Nhangumele is a marine biologist and sustainability advocate with over eight years of experience in natural resource management, ocean governance, and policy advocacy. She has worked across the Southwest Indian Ocean region, supporting governments and civil society in advancing Blue Economy strategies, strengthening fisheries transparency, and combating IUU fishing. Passionate about climate justice and community empowerment, Gladys joined the Climate Friendly Travel Diploma, an innovative program leading initiatives that link global frameworks to local action, to ensure that communities not only face the frontlines of environmental challenges but also lead the solutions for a more resilient and sustainable future.
