Meet the Chapter Leader
Gina Bunton is a seasoned tourism executive with over 20 years of experience in international marketing and market development, and has more recently developed a strong focus on sustainable tourism. As the former Chief International Operations Officer of Tahiti Tourisme, she led the global strategy to position The Islands of Tahiti as a high-value, culturally respectful, and environmentally conscious destination. Her work has spanned Asia, Europe, and North America, where she has built resilient destination brands. She also played a key role in shaping regional tourism policy through the Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO), where she served as a Board Director and Vice-Chair of the Sustainable Tourism Sub-Committee. In recent years, Gina has deepened her commitment to sustainable development and climate-friendly travel, earning certifications from GSTC, E-Cornell, and The Travel Foundation. In 2024, she enrolled in SUNx Malta’s Climate Friendly Travel Diploma and is proud to serve as Chapter Leader for French Polynesia. Gina is focused on fostering local and regional partnerships, empowering communities, and advancing low-carbon, SDG-linked tourism aligned with the Paris 1.5°C target.
