Meet the Chapter Leader
Darcy Correa, a dedicated professional from Corozal, Belize, has been
serving as a Tourism Officer at the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora
Relations since 2017. In his role, Darcy plays a pivotal part in
promoting and managing tourism initiatives that highlight Belize's rich
cultural and natural heritage. His expertise and passion for the tourism
industry are rooted in his previous experience working at the Institute
of Archaeology, where he contributed to the preservation and study of
Belize's archaeological treasures. Darcy's commitment to enhancing
tourism in Belize is evident in his ongoing efforts to develop
sustainable tourism practices that benefit both the local community and
international visitors.
Darcy is one of the SUNx Malta PG Diploma scholarship recipients.
Ashira Rancharan is a passionate environmental advocate from Belize, currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management. She has hands-on experience in wildlife rehabilitation, marine conservation, and environmental education, working with various organizations across Belize such as Wild tracks and the University of Belize Environmental Research Institute. Ashira also has a strong interest in sustainable tourism and has contributed to eco-tourism outreach and conservation education in coastal communities. She led the Recycling Trash to Treasure project, which combined waste management, youth engagement, and climate education. As the Climate Friendly Travel Chapter Leader for Belize, she aims to promote low-carbon travel, community inclusion, and environmental responsibility. Ashira is committed to building a more climate-resilient tourism sector through advocacy, youth leadership, and grassroots initiatives.
Edreena Lambey is a tourism professional from Belize, the only English-speaking country in Central America and home to lush rainforests, rich cultural diversity, and the Belize Barrier Reef, the second-largest barrier reef system in the world. Belize is heavily reliant on tourism, making the industry one of the country's most important drivers of economic growth, employment, and community development. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Management and currently serves as Office Coordinator, HR, and Administrator at a leading sustainable wilderness lodge in Belize, where she supports operations, human resource management, and guest service excellence. Her academic background and professional experience have strengthened her passion for sustainable tourism, hospitality management, and environmental conservation. Through her work, she contributes to responsible tourism practices that create meaningful visitor experiences while preserving Belize’s natural and cultural heritage. As part of her SUNx Malta Climate Friendly Travel internship, she is committed to advancing Climate Friendly Travel initiatives and promoting tourism that balances economic prosperity with environmental responsibility. Her goal is to help ensure that Belize’s tourism industry continues to benefit local communities while protecting the natural resources that make the country a world-renowned destination.
